Parent Connection
The Parent Faculty Association (PFA) is an organization that provides volunteers and funds for materials/programs that enhance the learning opportunities offered to our children. The Mission of the Wheeling Country Day School (WCDS) PFA is to enhance the overall school experience of the WCDS students, their families and the faculty. The strength of our PFA lies in our membership, who devote their time and talents to make a difference in the lives of our children and our school community. As a parent or guardian of a student at WCDS, you are a member of the PFA.
I am honored to be the President of the PFA and excited to be a part of the many wonderful things the PFA does for our children, families, faculty and school community. Not only is it a way to connect with other parents and stay connected with our children and school community, the PFA offers an avenue for parents and faculty to volunteer their time and utilize their resources and talents to make a difference in our school and our children’s lives. WCDS is truly a wonderful place with faculty and staff who are engaged in our children and their growth both personally and academically and with parents who volunteer tirelessly for the good of our children and school. Working together yields a strong and successful PFA.
In the book, A New Generation of Evidence: The Family Is Critical to Student Achievement written by Anne Henderson and Nancy Berla, it states that current research shows that "When parents are involved in their children's education at home, they do better in school. And when parents are involved in school, children go farther in school and the schools they go to are better."
I would like to welcome returning families and new families to the PFA at WCDS. I would like to invite all families to be active members of the PFA. Our goal is to have 100% participation. The PFA can only succeed with your involvement and support.
