Paying for an independent school education is a concern for all families. Current families and those applying for admission may apply for financial aid awards.
As an independent school Wheeling Country Day School has the freedom to let passionate teachers create educational experiences to meet your child’s individual needs, without state mandates regarding curriculum, textbooks, and testing. It is also independent in matters of finance rather than being supported by government monies or subsidized by religious affiliations. The tuition charged at Wheeling Country Day School does not cover the total cost of educating each student; therefore, to some degree, all students are on financial aid.
The school’s financial aid award program is based upon need as determined by the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) in Princeton, NJ www.sss.nais.org. There are required deadlines with these applications, and each family is responsible for financing their child’s education to the extent that they are able.

Applying for Financial Aid Awards
As stated, the school’s financial aid award program is based upon need as determined by the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) in Princeton, NJ. The Parent Financial Statement (PFS) must be completed either online at www.sss.nais.org or in print. The Admissions Office can provide the necessary forms for those requiring print applications. There is an application fee payable to SSS.
SSS analyzes the information on the PFS to estimate the family’s ability to contribute to tuition. The school’s Financial Aid Committee will receive the results soon after the form is completed online or within a week after the form is received by mail.
The Financial Aid Committee maintains strictest confidentiality with all financial aid files. Using the SSS information as a guideline, the awards are determined, become part of the enrollment contract as mailed, and are accepted by the family’s signing and returning the contract by the stated deadline. No one else in the school community receives information on financial aid grant decisions.
